Quran Memorization Plan: Daily Hifz Schedules to Finish in 1, 2 or 3 Years
Every week, a parent or a student asks us the same thing. “How fast can I really finish?” It is a fair question. And the honest answer is simple: it depends on how many lines you learn each day, and how well you keep them.
We have guided many students through Hifz, from young kids to working adults. Below, we share the exact daily plans our tutors use. No guesswork. Just numbers you can follow.
How Long Does It Take to Memorize the Whole Quran?
Most students finish in 1 to 3 years. The standard Madani Mushaf has 604 pages, split into 30 Juz, with 15 lines on each page. If you study five days a week, that gives you about 260 study days a year. Divide the pages by your days, and you have your daily target.
Speed is not the goal, though. Memorization needs steady review to stay strong. So, every plan here leaves room for review.
Which Hifz Timeline Fits Your Life?
Pick the row that sounds like you. These targets assume five study days a week.
| Timeline | Best for | New pages a day | New lines | Daily time |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 year | Full-time students, homeschoolers, gap year | About 2.3 | About 35 | 3 hours 15 minutes |
| 2 years | Teens in school, university students | About 1.2 | About 17 | 1 to 1.5 hours |
| 3 years | Busy parents, working adults, kids under 12 | About 0.8 | About 12 | 45 to 60 minutes |
Daily time includes new lessons and review together. Slower readers may need a little more at the start. That is normal.
What Does a 1-Year Daily Hifz Schedule Look Like?
This plan is intense. It works best when Quran is your main job for the year. Here is a typical day for a 15-year-old who studies at home:
- After Fajr (60 minutes): learn 2 to 3 new pages. The mind is fresh, and the house is quiet.
- Midday (45 minutes): recite the last 7 days of lessons to yourself.
- After Asr (60 minutes): live class with a tutor, who checks the new pages and fixes Tajweed.
- Evening (30 minutes): revise one older Juz, a little each night.
Who Should Not Choose the 1-Year Plan?
Be honest with yourself here. If you work full time, have small kids, or still read slowly, this pace will likely burn you out. Many students who rush end up starting again. A steady 2-year plan often finishes first.
How Can Students and Workers Finish Hifz in 2 Years?
This is the plan we suggest most. Think of a university student in Birmingham with lectures all day. One page plus a few lines a day is very doable.
- Morning (30 minutes): learn about 17 new lines before class.
- Evening (40 minutes): live session, plus review of recent pages.
- Weekends: no new memorization. Use Saturday and Sunday to review a full Juz or two.
Two calm years. Strong memory at the end. That is a good trade.
Can Busy Parents and Young Kids Memorize the Quran in 3 Years?
Yes. And they often keep it best, because the pace is gentle. Picture a mom in Dallas with three children and a part-time job. She has 45 minutes after the kids sleep. That is enough.
- Split the 12 lines into small chunks: 3 lines at a time, 4 times.
- Repeat each verse 5 to 10 times, then recite it from memory.
- Link the new lines to yesterday’s lesson before stopping.
For children from age 4 to 11, we usually start even smaller. A few lines a day is a real win at that age.
How Should You Split New Lessons and Review Each Day?
Many Hifz schools use three parts. We use them too, because they work. The idea matches spaced repetition, where you revisit material at growing gaps so it stays in long-term memory.
| Part | What it means | How much time |
|---|---|---|
| Sabaq | Today’s new lesson | The smallest share |
| Sabqi | Pages from the last week or two | A medium share |
| Manzil | Older pages, done in a cycle | The biggest share |
Our tutors follow a 5:1 review ratio in class. In plain words, old pages always get much more time than new ones. Every lesson starts with review before anything new is added.
What Should You Do If You Miss a Day or Fall Behind?
It will happen. Kids get sick. Work runs late. Ramadan changes your whole routine.
- Never double the next lesson. Two pages done badly is worse than one done well.
- Use a weekend slot to catch up on review first, then new lines.
- Move your class, not your goal. Our students can reschedule missed sessions with their tutor.
How Does Our Online Quran Memorization Program Keep You on Track?
A plan on paper is easy. Keeping it for two years is the hard part. That is where a teacher matters. In our online Quran memorization program, each student gets:
- Live one-on-one classes on Zoom only. Every class is private, and every lesson is recorded so you can review it later.
- Certified tutors, including Ijazah holders and Ten Qira’at teachers such as Sheikh Alaa Barour and Teacher Shaimaa Hossam.
- Daily targets set and checked by your teacher, with Tajweed fixed in every recitation.
- Male and female tutors, so sisters can learn with a female teacher.
- Time slots that fit your city. A 6 a.m. class in Toronto or an after-school slot in London is easy to book. We are available 24/7, so students in any time zone can find a slot that works.
- Progress reports and a certificate when you complete your goal.

Frequently Asked Questions About Quran Memorization Plans
How long does it take to memorize the whole Quran?
Most students finish in 1 to 3 years. Your pace depends on how many lines you learn each day and how well you review. A 1-year plan means about 35 new lines a day, a 2-year plan about 17, and a 3-year plan about 12, based on five study days a week.
How many lines should I memorize every day?
It depends on your timeline and your free time. Full-time students can handle about 35 lines, students and workers about 17, and busy parents or kids under 12 about 12. Start smaller if you read slowly. A steady pace beats a fast one that you forget.
Can I memorize the Quran online with a tutor?
Yes. In our online Quran memorization program, every class is a private one-on-one session on Zoom, and lessons are recorded so you can review them later. Your tutor sets daily targets and corrects your Tajweed in every recitation.
Do I need to know Tajweed before I start Hifz?
You should be able to read the Quran with reasonable fluency. If you cannot yet, begin with our Noorani Qaida course or our Tajweed rules course, then move to memorization. Your Hifz tutor will also fix Tajweed mistakes as you go.
Can children memorize the Quran in 3 years?
Yes. Children from age 4 to 11 usually start with just a few lines a day, which suits their attention span. See our Quran classes for kids for a gentle, structured start.
What should I do if I miss a day or fall behind?
Never double the next lesson. Review first, then add new lines, and reschedule the missed class with your tutor. Move your class, not your goal.
Do you offer female tutors and flexible class times?
Yes. We have both male and female tutors, so sisters can learn with a female teacher. We are available 24/7, so you can book a time that fits your city and time zone.
Can I try a class before I subscribe?
